Bristol City Council is delighted to join the University of Bristol as joint members of the MetroLab Network. We are looking forward to combining our creativity, know-how and academic expertise to collaborating on city innovation challenges and co-designing solutions.

What is the MetroLab Network?

The MetroLab Network is a US-based network of over 40 regional partnerships between cities and universities that are focused on the research, development and deployment of new technologies and approaches to urban challenges.  The network brings together 45 cities, 6 countries and 61 universities and is focused on developing effective partnerships between local governments and universities in order to support civic innovation and digital transformation.

Freyja Lockwood the Smart City & Innovation Manager for the City Innovation Team at Bristol City Council said:

Our membership of the MetroLab Network further strengthens our collaborative partnership with the University of Bristol. Working together we’ll be able to harness new technologies in order to address challenging urban issues, deliver world-class public services and shape Bristol’s transformation into a fair and inclusive city where everyone can benefit from, participate in and contribute to the social and economic benefits of digital technology”.
