These appliances have the highest possible Energy Rating (A+++), making them extremely energy efficient which could help reduce your bills. These savings could be substantial for residents who are upgrading their old appliances to the new white goods offered through the REPLICATE project.

Demand based energy cost
Apart from the direct savings you could get with our cutting-edge appliances, we will explore different solutions to prepare households for the future. With energy costs being so varied these days, there are already some demand based energy cost systems in place – this is done in a number of countries, like Spain or some places in the United States, and will sooner or later arrive to the UK. This would mean that energy cost would fluctuate depending on the current level of demand. For example, energy could be more expensive in peak time-zones like evenings or early in the morning but it could be cheaper when most people are at work or sleeping.
In the future, by scheduling your appliances to come on when home energy demand is not at its highest, you will be helping to reduce this peak demand which in the future, if not reduced, could even cause blackouts. A smart appliance that is connected to the internet could save money, energy as well as offering greater control – for instance, you could instruct a washing machine to finish washing your clothes to finish by 5:30pm when you get home from work.

Help us explore ways of saving energy
In the REPLICATE project, we will take a look at different ways to prototype this approach through trialling a virtual on-demand energy cost system. This would allow us to gather the necessary learning to inform future solutions and help more residents to save money and become more energy efficient.
